I have been going here for years. I go with family and I go alone. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Campground and restrooms are always clean. I love the history that surrounds this location and in walking distance. This is my favorite campground.

Fun place for camping that is surrounded by nearby historical history of the gold discovery, nearby hiking trails, river rafting, and even wine & beer tasting. Summer highlight is the river rafting and is very busy. The campground hosts many activities during the summer.

Great place to stay right where the California historical gold rush started. Some of the RV and tent sites are right on the river. Tent sites are spacious and there are small cabins for those that want that type of convenience. Clean grounds and courteous staff. This is also a wedding and event venue. We stayed over for New Year's and we had our same spot as previous years. Year round enjoyment.

What an awesome family oriented camp site, the cabin are all very clean and the staff is super helpful. If you happen to be looking for a puppy the camp host has some Frenchies she is selling they are all paper and oh my gosh so so precious.

We’ve made this the annual trip for my wife’s birthday at the end of March. It’s a nice weekend away, when we have nothing to do, no other obligations. There is a bunch of history in the area including the gold rush and a couple short hikes. Weather in Spring can be unpredictable, and the river is moving very fast. Watch your kids. The park is clean, well maintained and staff is friendly.

First time visiting and will definitely be coming back. We had space 98 and it was nice spot but backing in took several attempts as not a lot of room but once in all good. We have 38’ 5th wheel and that’s the only reason it was a little more difficult with space. Smaller trailers were able to back in first attempt.

It's a family tradition now to go there every year. We book the camping spot each year right after we leave there. It's very family friendly with a lot of camping activities and good facilities. The restrooms and shower rooms are clean and spacious. It's right next to the American River with a good view and convenient to arrange a day trip on the water for rafting. The store is lovely and it carries almost everything you need for camping. Their souvenirs are cute too. You can even buy a small bottle of gold for kids 🙂

Stayed on the river side spot, plenty of nature. Kids were able to look out windows of 5th wheel and saw a deer early in the morning go by our campsite. Sound of water flowing is calming.

My family and friends grew up at Coloma Resort. 34 years of memories and still counting. My wife Donna and I are 67 and have been camping there since 1990. I remember meeting Fred, Marielle and daughters, Bridgette and Danielle one year after their opening. Our daughter Donelle and Danielle went to high school together. Fred and Marielle had amazing passion and vision to build not just a campground but a camping destination. Fred’s passion was intoxicating and he was always accommodating. Every time we showed up Fred had to pull me aside and show me his newest addition to the resort. I often assisted in helping to install sound systems and doing sound for the ice cream socials. The Macarena was my favorite. I felt a connection with Fred that I wish I’d pursued. We started out tent camping, bringing all of our friends and family. I remember a rain on a major holiday that flooded us out. We left telling Fred, you can keep the tent and all the camping gear. Looking back, I have to laugh. We gradually moved up to trailers and eventually a fifth wheel. As the years past, we went through 6 trailers and expanded our camping territory. Recently we decided to reconnect with the resort since it’s only 20 minutes from home and we love the river. We reconnected with Sherri who’s always been there for us. Sherri introduced us to amazing Joey who has been very helpful with getting us sites and dates. We also had a chance to reconnect with Marielle. We love all of the friendly staff and look forward to continue visiting Coloma Resort for years to come. Thank you all, Tony & Donna B

We love going to Coloma and have been going for nearly 15 years. With it being so close to Sacramento, it's a great weekend getway. Sherry and her team always makes us feel like "family" from the time we make our reservations to checkout time. It's truly a wonderful place to stay. Thanks, Sherry!

Glad we came in winter to miss the crowds. The water is beautiful. We had campsite B and it was perfect. The store is great and has everything you might have forgotten. We will definitely return to Coloma and we've already picked out the spots we want to park in next.

This was our first stay at the resort but certainly won't be our last. We picked site 100 with full hookups and best of all a lot of shade. Unfortunately we had a loud camp next to us. Even though we were in an RV site the management allowed 4 adults to pitch tents, thought that was odd but when we noticed they were part of a group that had rented two cabins close by. No doubt their group had a very good time, to somewhat of our dismay. Let's just say they gave campers a bad reputation. Now this resort has everything. Really built for big groups. We think next time we will for go the full hookups for the sites with electricity and wster that are just above the beautiful American River.

Coloma Resort is located in the “Gold City “ it has so much history, I visited the Blacksmith House, 2 elderly men was explaining how metal was shss as per and formed. I also visited the Historical Monroe House, a very nice lady “ Faye” explained how the Monroe Family settled in the area. Then I visited the museum and learned how and where gold was originally found. Well worth coming here and learning history of California. By the way the day I visited there was a vintage car show. Awesome

Last year the cabin we got needed to be cleaned before we could enjoy it. This year it was spotless! Last year we ran out of towels and TP. This year we had extra. With such amazing views and such wonderful accomodations it felt more like a resort than a camp ground. We had so, so much fun! Kudos to the folks who got it so right!

Goldrush Cabins are awesome with a comfortable king size bed, & bunkbeds that have clean sheets, blankets, comforter & pillows with a mini fridge/freezer. It has good AC & heating inside the unit that was nice on those 89 degrees days. Nice clean bathrooms & showers near by, super impressed with the ADA accessibility all over too. The grounds are kept clean, green & comfortable with lots to do & see. I brought my 20 month old daughter who enjoyed walking around to the various playgrounds and campsites. Good Verizon cell coverage, & wifi on site. General store with ice available & other various small stores nearby. Lots of nearby easy hiking trails too. Definitely a beautiful private campground on the river! Nice friendly staff

Highly recommend! This has been our family camping site for the past 15+ years. Great for glamping, camping, RV, and cabins with AC. They have river front sites and group sites (12 people) which my family and friends book. Wifi, bathrooms, electricity, and showers. 10pm noise curfew but we definitely stay up later than that, we just keep the volume down. Dogs allowed but they charge. Next to Trouble Maker rapid on the American River and plenty of access points for tubing or rafting. You can also fish.

What a beautiful campsite! We booked the riverfront site and it was such an amazing stay! Site is very well maintained and lots of amenities (bathroom, ice cream airstream, pool, playground, etc) . More importantly, very family friendly, kids running around and dogs having fun, it’s otherworldly !! You can book it same time next year and many people do, that’s the charm of this place.

Beautiful place on the American River. Close to fun activities in the historical mining town of Lotus. The owners are amazing and accommodate needs like a small business, not like a commercially owned property. They are friendly and welcoming & will definitely be back. Especially for those views!

Awesome place, great staff, and clean amenities. I stayed here for awhile, while I waited for my boyfriend to finish his fire season right up the road. This is a great spot if you have a dog or kids and the things to do are endless in this area. I will say though if you like quiet, go during the week if you can, or stay maybe on the upper level. During the weekend near site H it can be quiet loud with a lot of kids screaming and hollering from their parents lol but I also don’t have kids so maybe I’m bias. Anyway I can’t wait to go back.

We've been coming here consecutively 4 years straight and love every minute of it. Water is so refreshing. It seems they open up the flow in the morning which raises the water level to do some wading and tubing but lowers in the late afternoon/early evening. There's so many options for camping styles aside from hiking for miles to a secluded spot. Camp is right on the river if you get the right spot.

Very nice amenities! Stayed during some hot days and enjoy the pool very much! The local park ducks are a nice touch. They sure aren't afraid of anyone! Our site was a little rough (#257). Blacktop pad was rough. Grass on both sides was dead. Lots of sticker balls. Will be selecting a nicer site now for next time.

Glamping at its best!!!! I rented a river front cabin #55 it was awesome I took my 10 year old son and we had an amazing time! The location was perfect and we rode bikes and played in the river. I didn't want to haul all of our camping gear so the cabin was great. We even door dashed one night LOL (is that cheating while camping) We live only 45 minutes from Coloma yet it seems so far away a super relaxed surroundings. The staff was great and we look forward to booking again especially once the COVID restrictions are lifted. Great job Coloma Resort we will see you again.

It is a fantastic place! Lots of awesome spots for tents, RV's and there are cabins. We were in our fifth wheel right on the water. Location is ideal and on the other side of the bridge is Sutter's Mill. We walked across the bridge and spent the afternoon walking around reading and looking at the history.

So relaxing and beautiful here. They have RV spots, full hook ups, tent sites, cabins. A river runs right next to the resort. The bathrooms are super clean. Everything is clean! Very well maintained. The night was freezing in our tent, but the day is sunny and warm, right next to the river. It is Dec. 24 and we are in t-shirts. Highly recommend staying here! We will be back.

GOLD DISCOVERY DAY
A golden flake glittered in the sunlight and the history of the West, the lives of millions of people, and the economy of the world changed forever!
Coloma began with the discovery of gold on January 24th, 1848. This started the greatest human migration ever known - the California Gold Rush!
January 24th will forever be celebrated in these parts as Gold Discovery Day, but you can relive the excitement of this historic area from your own campsite all year round!
Gold Pan from your campsite! The Coloma Resort Camp Store sells gold pans and gold vials, and instructional handouts are also available.
Coloma Resort is located in the heart of California Gold Country, adjacent to the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park. You and your family can take part in a self-guided tour through the historic sites.
Booking your stay is easy!
WINTER AND SPRING CAMPING AT COLOMA RESORT
Camping at Coloma Resort in the winter and early spring is a whole different experience. Our guests appreciate being able to get out into the fresh air and experience the beauty of nature during the off-season; the best time to enjoy Coloma's mellow, river town vibe!
If you're planning a trip for the early spring, be prepared for occasional rain and weather variation. Make sure to bring cold-weather gear and layers that will provide you with options. The weather can go from rainy to sunny springtime warmth complete with chirping birds.
Make sure to bring your hiking boots or bikes so you can fully explore our town's extensive trail system. The soil here is thankfully well-compacted without a lot of clay, so even in the rainiest of weather, the beautiful riverfront trails are still walkable!
Riverfront tent camping spots are usually readily available at this time as well, so you and your friends should have an easy time getting spots closer together. A variety of cabins are also available as well as RV sites with partial and full hookups.
