Whitewater Rafting

A RELAXING ESCAPE FROM THE HEAT OR AN AFTERNOON ADVENTURE

We have partnered with WET River Trips to offer white water rafting trips on the American River with door-to-door service for you to enjoy along with your stay at the Coloma Resort. Choose from the following two half-day trips and four 1-day trip options and use the code “Coloma Resort” when you reserve your trip (reservations must be made a minimum of 5 days before the trip date) you will be picked up from the Resort 15 minutes before the trip meeting time and returned to the Resort when the trip is done.

Kayaking

The Southfork of the American River offers great adventures for experienced kayakers. Plenty of challenges await you, and advanced experience is needed for this self-guided activity. Appropriate whitewater kayaking gear (including life jackets) are required. Local rentals are available.

RELAXING AND FUN

Tubing

Go with the flow and tube down the American River! Tubing on the river is a great family-friendly, self-guided activity.

The stretch of river in front of Coloma Resort is perfect for tubing in the months of May through September. Launch your tube right below the Trouble Maker Rapid and ride the current to Henningson Park in Lotus.

Tubes, life jackets are available for sale in the General Store. Life Jackets are required.

Local Hiking and Biking Trails in Coloma and Lotus

Dutch Creek Falls Trail

  • Location: Go past Coloma Resort on Mt. Murphy rd. and make a right on Bayne. Look for a green forestry gate across the road from The Country Cottage/White house on Coloma Resort property.
  • Length: 2.5 miles
  • Description: A very popular trail featuring beautiful views. Caution: This trail isn’t maintained and at certain times of the year the falls are not very full.

Coloma Valley Trail

  • Location: Begins in Coloma, following the American River.
  • Length: Approximately 5 miles.
  • Description: A scenic trail perfect for hiking and biking, offering beautiful views of the river and surrounding hills. It is mostly flat, making it accessible for all skill levels.

 

American River Bike Trail

  • Location: Runs along the American River from Sacramento to Folsom.
  • Length: 32 miles (one way).
  • Description: A well-maintained paved trail that is ideal for biking, jogging, and walking. This trail provides stunning views of the river, wildlife, and the Sierra Nevada foothills.

 

Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park

  • Location: 3490 McCourtney Rd, Cool, CA 95614 (near Lotus).
  • Length: Various trails, totaling about 10 miles.
  • Description: Offers a network of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The park features rolling hills, meadows, and stunning views of the American River.

 

Forebay Trail

  • Location: Near Lotus, connects to the American River.
  • Length: Approximately 4 miles round trip.
  • Description: A beautiful trail leading to the Forebay, suitable for both hiking and biking. It features river views, wildlife, and easy access to the water.

 

South Fork American River Trail

  • Location: Near Coloma, connecting to the river.
  • Length: Approximately 6 miles.
  • Description: A popular trail for hiking and mountain biking, with access to the South Fork American River. The trail offers varying terrain and beautiful scenery.

 

Bassi Falls Trail

  • Location: Off of Bassi Road, approximately 20 minutes from Coloma.
  • Length: 2 miles round trip.
  • Description: A short hike to the stunning Bassi Falls, perfect for families. The trail is relatively easy and offers beautiful views of the waterfall.

 

Mount Murphy Trail

  • Location: Near Coloma.
  • Length: Approximately 3 miles round trip.
  • Description: A moderately challenging hike with rewarding views from the top. This trail is great for those looking for a bit of a workout and stunning vistas of the American River and surrounding landscape.
